If you are struggling with your mental health, firstly there are two things to remember:
· It’s ok to not be ok
· You are not alone
Here at the Art of War Foundation we are passionate about helping current and former armed forces personnel, get the support they need if suffering from poor mental health.
However, we are not trained mental health experts, and our aim is to generate funding so that we can support some of the excellent charities out there who can provide support for those who need some help or assistance.
Whether coping with the aftermath of combat, dealing with PTSD, or navigating the stresses of civilian life, it is crucial that veterans have access to the appropriate resources and support.
Understanding when to seek help is the first step towards mental wellness. Veterans may experience a range of mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, PTSD, and substance abuse. Common signs include persistent sadness, difficulty sleeping, irritability, and withdrawal from social activities. It is important to recognise these symptoms and seek support promptly.
